We started small, with a 2-quart machine and an ice cream book. Neighbors asked us to open a shop.

Meet the owners

Jimmy & Lynne

Husband and wife behind every scoop. Together we're proudly Hawaiian-owned and veteran-owned.

Lynne

Lynne: the Hawaiian half

Lynne is Native Hawaiian, Japanese and Filipina, and she grew up on Maui with her grandmother, walking to school past the old C&H sugar mill in Puʻunene. When we opened in 2021, she worked the counter every day and greeted guests with the aloha you still feel here today. Her island roots gave Sweet Aloha its name and its heart. They’re why we’re proudly Hawaiian-owned.

Jimmy: the veteran half

Jimmy served more than eight years in the U.S. Air Force. At Aviano Air Base, Italy, he kept fighter jets flying and earned two Air Force Achievement Medals, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal for Operation Northern Watch (1998–2000) and the Kosovo Campaign Medal for Operation Allied Force (1999). He finished his service with the 31st Test & Evaluation Squadron at Edwards Air Force Base, working on the F-22 and other weapons systems. Along the way he learned Italian, Serbian and Croatian. He was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant.
